Aside from disliking the 6-7 gen sound, I refuse to take them apart. It was renamed the iPod Classic to distinguish it from other new iPod models. It really all comes down to what you hate doing the most. The iPod Classic replaced the iPod Video, or 5th Generation iPod, in Fall 2007.

And among the “confirmed working” CF cards I’ve plugged straight in and the 3-4 SD cards I’ve used through adapters that were just wastes of money, the ONLY combo I’ve had slight success with is literally an old adapter and 10 year old 8GB full size transcend SD card I kinda stole from my dads computer desk. I’ve tried about 6 different combinations over my 5 minis, one of every conceivable type. Buuuuuut they’re SO DAMN PICKY about that they’ll accept. And a new battery, also cake, and you’re done forever basically. Just a CF card (or the adapter equivalent) and it’s done.

7th gens specifically are so goddamn expensive even though they’re the same thing as the 5-6 Its time I did a video on one of the great all time tech devices, the iPod.Was this answer helpful Yes No Score 2 Add a comment Add your answer Dakota will be eternally grateful. click on the name you want to change- typing b ox will open. 6th gens specifically have an issue where they can’t recognize anything over 127GB without RockBox Options on the left side of itunes where you see the lists- library, playlist ,device, etc you will see your ipod symbol and then the name next to it.6th-7th gens have the same advantages of the 5th, they’re basically the same ipod buuuut they’re HORRENDOUSLY painful to open, the aluminum front was literally out there to prevent it, I’m sure.5th gens are everywhere, and so are the parts, you have a whole gang of options for storage and battery and even housings and it’s all easy and cost effective, buuuuuut under heavy load (anyone who plays exclusively high bit rate FLAC knows what I mean) and huge libraries, it can really struggle until the point it’s almost unusable unless you stop the music first.Buuuuut you’re limited in what you can do about the battery because it’s got a recessed cutout for exact fitment. 4th gens are super cheap because those IDE ti CF adapters are a dime a dozen. And then there’s little minor pros and cons in between that never actuallly make or break it for any model specifically. Really all of them have a huge advantage and a huge drawback.
